Question Cold hard starting ?

My LS1 in the morning, and the engine hasn't been running for about 8 hours, is VERY HARD to get started. But once running runs smooth and for the rest of the day starts normally. It only happens in the morning and it doesn't leave any codes. I have a code reader and it always read '0' ? Bad sensor or what do you think ? Thank you !

You don't need a code reader, your car has one built in. Check the trouble codes on your DIC, then report them back here. It almost sounds like a weak battery. C5's need fully charged batteries to function properly. Once they get weak, all types of weird things will start happening!
Been there, done that!!

I'd suggest checking the fuel pressure first thing in the morning.

A bad sensor should set a code.

What do you mean by hard starting? Does the engine crank over slowly and take a long time to fire off, or does the engine crank over fast and just not start right away?

No, The battery is fully charged and the engine turns over plenty fast, it just doesn't catch the ignition point. I crank it over for only 20 seconds or less. I've been told you are going to wreak the starting motor if you crank it over and over again, it's just going overheat. It just won't catch and run on it's own. It has been doing this for the last three weeks, but the dealership says unless the 'Check Engine Light' is on, it won't leave any codes.

Ok, good information. Check your cranking voltage with a quality volmeter at the battery terminals and see what it reads. If it is ok, then a fuel pressure test, while letting it sit over night, would be a good place to start. Good luck with it.

Just by chance, does your coolant temperature read correctly?

I was only asking as the coolant temp sensor is critical to the PCM controlling the mixture, spark advance and lots of various trims.
