CM Oil pressure

Just had a new oil pressure switch installed and when I got the car back it was reading around 50psi. The switch that I put in was the standard ignition switch PS-308. Is 50 psi normal for a 99, C5, 65,000.

50 PSI sounds nice too me. I'm using a PS308 and when its cold, it runs 50 and above till it warms up. Due to my extreme mileage on my '99, I'm seeing summer PSI of about 21 at hot and idle.

CM oil guage

Thanks for your information. I was ready to turn around an ask the mechanic "whats up with this". On the way home once the car did warm up the gauge did go just above 40. Thanks again dgrant3830.

Gentlemen,

I have a beautiful '04 C6 Z06 w/93K, way above 50 until warm, over 40 on normal days, just under 40 on Oklahoma hot days/idle. I've seen a couple runs @ this issue on this site and I think we are all good. I was kinda surprised on what the mechanics here said was good and expected by the engineers, lower than I would have thought but, hey, they are the pros.

Your oil pressure is fine. Normally you will see 50 psi when the engine is warming up and above hot idle rpm's. At hot idle you will probably see around 25-35 psi.

My lower PSI is due to the mileage, which I expect. Since I'm at 324K miles, lower is normal. I'm still running 5W-30 Mobil1. At some point, I'll have to rebuild the bottom end. Not sure if to just have the crank re-machined and newly sized bearings or buy a new crank and put in the OEM bearings from GM.
