I had to replace my gas cap twice in 3 years. Could my 2008 C6 coupe with 16k miles be building up too much pressure in the gas tank and breaking the caps? Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks

Not likely as you would probably set a code, but I am not positive as I have never personally found a evap system problem with too much pressure, usually it is just the opposite. There are testers to determine if the caps are functioning properly. Was a tester used, why are you replacing the caps, and what brand are they?

| Be sure when you tighten the cap after filling that you DO NOT PUSH DOWN WHILE TURNING. Just turn it until it clicks.

Had a check engine light. I checked the gas cap and found it off. Put it back on. It clicked when you turned it but did not lock on. The local chevy dealer gave me a new cap. No tests were performed. Same thing again. Check engine light came on, open the door and the cap is loose. I turn it, it clicks but does not stay on?

Make sure that you hear and feel at least three clicks when you install any emissions gas cap, you may not be turning it far enough to seal properly.

I've recently had this problem too. The gas cap will rotate and click (an infinite number of times) but the cap is not / will not lock onto the car. Any input would be appreciated.

Same thing happened to me. I just went to the dealer and got another cap. It was covered under the warranty. Once that ends I would like to know if there is an aftermarket cap that's as good or better.
