CM Fuel line filter location on a 2003 convertible

I have looked and cannot find the fuel filter on my 2003 Vette. Is it possible that it is located on top of the fuel tank. That has been suggested to me by a local parts store.

It is underneath the car as you probably guessed, on the driver’s side of the torque tube just ahead of the transmission and almost at the top of the tunnel. You need very small hands and long arms to access it though. Let is set for a couple of years so the fuel is all but gone to eliminate wearing it – LOL

If it is not inside the left frame rail by the transmission, then it is inside the tank. I believe that late model '03's are the same as '04's, in that have the "lifetime" fuel filter in the tank.

The one on my '98 is on the frame rail, but I know it was changed to an in-tank filter in the later model years.....not sure when it was changed. Seems like maybe 2000?

Part way through the model year 2003, the fuel filter was moved to the inside of the left tank. For the 2003 Corvettes only, that system was designated by RPO code FFS. Here is a detailed description of that system.

Many vehicles these days do not have in line fuel filters that can be easily replaced. This feature was removed for many reasons and one of them being people were not chagning them until they got clogged.

Vehicles with one in line like my Vette has, also has one in the tank, a screen more or less. In the tank filters pretty much only get changed out when the pump is replaced.

Now go play with your tools!
