I have a 2000 C5 6sp manual. I have experienced multiple problems with my multifunction lever (stalk switch). To clarify, I am talking about the lever located on the left side of the steering column that controls the headlights and has the cruise control functions on it. I have taken it apart and cleaned the contacts (burnt) several times and now it is acting up again. I am ready to replace it. I understand there is a "new improved" upgraded design available through GM dealerships. Does anyone know the P/N of the new UPGRADED switch assembly? I want to know what the "new" P/N is before ordering it so I can be sure the dealership is not selling me old stock. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. For those who may have a problem with their tail lights and instrument panel lights not working when they roll the headlights on, it is your stalk switch. if you disassemble the steering column and remove it, you can carefully disassemble it partially enough to watch it operate as you rotate it. You will see blue sparking at some of the contactors. Hope I have helped someone on here that is having the same problem. Thanks..........

Just found the Multifunction Lever on Ecklers website. They do not indicate if it is an improved design or not.

Thanks for replying Mark. Just want to be 100% sure I'm getting the newer revised part. Was hoping to be able to tell by old P/N vs. new P/N. I need to mention here that I am not even sure if there really is an improved part available. I am drawing on memory. I think I heard it somewhere else. Possibly on another forum or something. Was hoping C4C5specialist would see this post and be able to answer that one.

I received my new multi function switch through Ecklers two weeks ago and installed it without any real problems.

Would you believe I just took mine apart and cleaned it again? Was a little strapped for cash when it started acting up again and I needed to drive it at night that coming weekend for a 25yr. High School reunion. So far, it has not been acting up but it WILL. Probably will end up replacing it next season. So there....Now you know my age! LOL | ||||||||||||||||||||
