CM SMC repair

I need to repair a small crack in the lower left fender.

Can I fiberglass it like a surfboard or does SMC require special materials?

Thanks.

Do you think if I remover the fender LINER I can get to the back of it, which is where I want to do the repair?

I took the liner off (easy) and got full access to the back side. Used Loctite plastic epoxy. If it fails, I'll go back with some specialized SMC repair.

BTW is that the BCM behind that panel? What else? Lot of elec hardware back there. I am surprised it's almost out in the weather there, not very well sealed IMO.

A low car could go thru a medium deep puddle & get that stuff wet.

BTW there is one of those "drain bulbs" to drain water from the windshield wiper area that is behind the panel, right next to the electronics. Those modules must be very well built & weather tight to put them in that location, and below the battery too.

I just fiberglassed mine like you would do with a surf board. You can't tell that it was ever damaged.

Thanks,

It looked really complicated doing the "official" SCM repair, but it's probably not that bad.
