CM delco battery

after a 200 mile trip yesterday i parked my 2008 in the garage and this morning the battery voltage showed only 10 volts on the display. the corvette started but sounded weak and after i washed it it started but it sounder weak again. i put my battery charger on at 2 amps for 4 hours and the battery still shows 10 volts on the display. is the battery covered under my extended GM warranty ??? never had a problem with a delco battery as my 1988 silverado is only on its second battery counting the original. my 2004 impala still has the original battery.

You may want to read the warranty coverage paperwork for your extended warranty - and not rely on Internet advice or dealer advice.

The original Delco battery in my 1999 C5 coupe leaked acid soon after I purchased it new - causing damage below the battery. One of the side terminals pulled away from the battery case - and it was apparantly a big problem with 1999 Chevrolets and Corvettes. I had always had very good luck with Delco batterys - except with my Corvette.

Good luck.

I don't think 2 amps 4 hours is enough to charge one that discharged. I would pull it out & take it where they sell batteries and get a free load test.

Also need to figure out what drew it down, I thought newer gm had a feature that prevented a battery being killed by leaving something on? Check owner manual.

before the corvette would set for 2 weeks without discharging and this happened over night. seems like one cell has went bad over night.

I doubt that it will be covered under your extended warranty, but it wouldn't hurt to call and find out. Either way it needs to be properly load tested before any determination can be made. The vehicle is charging good, and there is no abnormal parasitic draw, correct?

thanks for the reply but i found out that even if it is a 7 year battery it is only warrantied for 3 years in a new car. also the major guard does not cover batteries so i guess i will buy a new one. the corvette would set for 2 weeks with no problem and i did keep a battery tender on it when i was not using the car like over the winter. it seems like a cell went dead as it shows about 10 volt even after charging the battery and the volt meter will show 14+ volts with the car running so i think the charging system is OK. this happened over night as the day before we put 200 miles on the car with no problems.

motorman~ If you have a CostCo nearby, you can get a battery for your car for $66. Kirkland is a good battery.

EDIT~ Item # 12850 Fitment code #12

I just put one in a friend's 2007. (It had a 5 year old battery in it.)
