Both uppers and lowers on my 04 Coupe. It has 54k on the clock. Because of an issue I ran into during a Tie Rod end change ( read about it here : http://corvettemechanic.com/forum/54...nd-woes-2.html (Outer Tie Rod End Woes) ) I'm going to have to replace the right passenger side knuckle. Being I'll already have one side completely apart I might as well take the other side apart and replace the ball joints. Shocks, End Links & Tie Rod ends have already been done. So, Any "Tip" from the pros ? I have done replacements on plenty of stamped steel control arms but not on Aluminum. I KNOW I have to get them lined up perfectly straight so the go in without either enlarging the hole or possibly breaking the casting. Would it hurt to lube the area before pressing them in and if so what would be good to use? Or can they be pressed in dry ?

So I have been shopping for Ball Joints. I wanted to get Moog and found out that most places only have the Lower joints available. Now comes the strange part. Moogs part # is K6537 which list's, according to the Moog catalog as fitting : CADILLAC XLR 2009-2004 CHEVROLET CORVETTE 2010-1997 K6537 BASE MODEL; Front Lower x 2 K500134 BASE MODEL; Front Upper x 2 Ya with me so far? Ok now we go to Ebay : Go to the Parts Compatabilty Chart and it lists this part as fitting 1997 thru 2001, 2005 thru 2010 This part is not compatible with 2004 Chevrolet Corvette Base What happened to 2002, 03 & 04 ? ![]() So I call a place up locally and they confirm that K6537 will not fit 02 thru 04 From what I have found Moog is the only one that can be greased. Everything I tried to find is non-greasable, unless i want to buy those Jap made 49.99 for 2 joints . So I may have no choice but to buy the Raybestos Professional Line: Raybestos 500-1128 Upper Ball Joint & Raybestos 505-1339 Lower Ball Joint which neither one is greaseable I can't win.............

I already looked into both of those places that you gave me the link to. I don't plan on racing or autocrossing so I think the pfadts are out. Zip sells only sells non-greasable as most places that I have checked out. If I'm going to be replacing them I'd LIKE to get the type that I can grease, If ya follow my line of thinking. Now can anyone verify for me if I should add a little lube to the ball joint collar or control arm before i press them in ? Or can it be pressed in dry ? Would it hurt to lube it first ?
