CM Reset Computer - Emissions reading

2001 Convertible - Standard shift - 50,000 mi.
I live in a Texas county that requires emission testing along with the yearly safety inspection. I changed the battery and took the car down to be inspected. When they found out I had changed the battery they plugged in their code reader and said there were 4 areas that were reading "Not Ready" and for me to just drive it and the computer would read and store data from these areas. I drove the car about 75 miles on both the highway and city streets and went back. They said one code was reading but there were 3 still reading "Not Ready" They said to keep driving it.The car runs and drives fine and there are no warning lights on the instrument cluster.
Any Ideas? Just keep driving it until the codes set? How many miles does it usually take for the codes to be read and set? This is a concern because if you run into a non-understanding officer it will be a sure ticket.

My understanding is that SOME of the monitors require several cold start to full warm cycles, NOT just xxx miles.

I do not have the details of which monitors & how many cycles.

You could probably buy an inexpensive code reader (a nice tool to have btw) and check the "readiness" yourself & then get it inspected.

:)

This is different from the dic codes we can all (c5's) look at.

Hope this helps.

I've seen some go,80-125 miles and several warm up cycles before they relearn everything.

For a low cost one, Harbor Freight or Pep Boys/kragen about $50 I think, the better ones are $200 & up, then you get real time scanning, airbag reset, better quality.

Really you can probably go to an auto parts store & get a free scan.
