Hey Guy's, I just bought my first Vette 12/11/2011 and I found this unplugged under the driverside headlamp area when I first brought it home. Any ideas what it's for???

Sorry....It's a 1993 LT1 Coupe. I found both hood lamps disconnected from both sides. I re-connected the passenger side and it lit up, but left it disconnected. I figured maybe there was a problem with them not shutting off when the hood is closed.

I leave my hood light disconnected too, the light is worthless as it doesn't help you see anything in the dark, it only gets in your eyes and partially blinds you. The two wire connector could be to anything. I would do a thorough check of all the outside lighting of the vehicle and see what does or doesn't work then plug the connector in and check all the lights again to see if there is any differences. Check and see if you have any stored codes that might help in determining the circuit. Good luck with it.

That plug go's to the emissions pump! As far as disconnecting the hood lamps to kill'm,No need! Just pull the 10 amp fuse at the rear of the left side marker lamp in a small black box!~!! |

Possibly. If you don't have a state emissions check you should be ok with ODB 1. OBD 2 ('96 on up on most vehicles) would definately set a check engine light. I was thinking possible AIR pump which is why the suggestion to check for codes. Pull your codes (if any) and write down any that come up. Clear the codes if there are any, and drive the vehicle for 4-5 drive cycles (completely hot to overnight cold) and check for codes again to see if any come back. Good luck with it.
