| Hey Guys, Newbie here. I just bought this Vette with 144,000 miles on it. Which oil and viscosity should I use? It doesn't burn any, however I am not sure what to use. Thanks!

IIRC 1992 was the first year for full synthetic oil from the factory, so I would stick with that. Mobil 1 has quite a variety of new oils, some of which are blended for "high mileage" engines. For weight I like 10w-30 for your car UNLESS you have a lot of cold starts at low ambient temps, below 30f or lower. If that is the case then 5w-30. Use a good quality filter, I like napa/wix, I do NOT like the new GM "e" filters, had a leak on my z06 with one. Purolator Pure One is good also. You will get thousands of opinions on oil & filters. That's mine.

I would follow what the owners manual states for the car. You will be fine if so.

When Costco has the coupon sale I pick up as many cases of Mobil 1 10w30 as I can. I'll run to Walmart if I run out and get the 5qt jugs there. For a filter I hit NAPA and get a NAPA Gold or Purolator

There are probably 5 or 6 different Fram filters that fit. The cheap ones I would not put on my car. I like wix(NAPA). Or Pure one, both are easy to find.

| I know a lot of people in the business, and none of them would recommend a Fram product or use one. OEM oil filters are usually the safest bet if they are not unreasonably priced, and I would say that Wix and Puralator are the highest quality aftermarket brands. | ||||||||||||||||||||

HI there, I will say first hand, I have just experienced what FROGGY was talking about with leaking E filters from ACDELCO. On my own truck, but here is an option. Autozone carries ACDelco but they are NOT the E filters, they are normally boxed PF52 filters which is what should be on your LT1. That would be my recommendation!. Allthebest , c4c5 |

Damn, I recently bought six of those things for my C5. Looks like I'll be taking them back now. I have to admit, they do look flimsy. Apparently in this case what you see is what you get.

I told you months ago guys. ![]() They don't seal. Put them on an LS6 motor that gets revved & they leak every time. I do like an ACDelco PF52 & used those for years IIRC on my LT4. They have BIG holes inside & look like they should flow well. :)
