CM Water leak

Just recently purchased my 2001 Z06 and since then we have had a lot of rain. It has been sitting for 4 or 5 days in the rain and the headliner above the seat belts is wet and the carpet behind the passenger seat is soaked. Does anyone have any idea on what's going on?

Not much to go on here.

Inspect all windows for correct seal & if seals look to be in good condition pliable, not cracked or dry.

Clear out all drain bladders.

Try to dry it out really well or you may get mold. You may have to put a heat source inside, be careful.

You may have to pull some carpets to get it dry.

Then spray it with hoses or go thru a drive thru wash & see if it leaks.

Thanks froggy47! It seems like the area that is the wettest is the carpet behind the passenger seat. Like I said before the headliner right above the plastic molding is wet and that seems to be right in the corner where the window meets the gasket, but it looks good. I will do the hose check.

The wetness will travel also, so the leak may be some distance from where you feel the dampness. Good luck & post back.

HI there,

I agree with the area around that door, unless the car has been in an accident where the roof had to be removed, then the weatherstrips and retainers are where I would be looking on the passenger side.

Scroll down the thread page and look for:

On the second page Junkman sent me two links on water leaks. I could not figure out if there was a way to link them directly.

Good luck!

Hey guys, I found the water leak around the upper rear corners of the windows. Took out all the interior and dried everything out. I adjusted the tilt of the windows but still leaking in the same areas. Gaskets are not dried out at all, they actually look real good. Does this mean new weatherstripping?

HI there,

You might want to try cleaning and lubricating them.

Sometimes, that has worked.

Clean off with a good glass cleaner and then lubricate with silicone grease/paste that is clear.

Allow to sit for 2 hours with the doors open, then wipe off the excess and see how it goes.
