Magna emerges as likely Chrysler buyer (February 27 2007, 09 AM)

Magna International, an auto supplier that has been rumored to be aspiring to becoming a full automaker, may be the most serious potential buyer for Chrysler Group. The chairman of Magna, Frank Stonach, has met twice with CAW president Buzz Hargrove, and has had KeyBanc Capital do due diligence on the automaker. Magna also met with the UAW but with a more confrontational outcome.

Magna had revenues of $24 billion in 2006. The company is based in Canada.
