- Need help. Could U open hood & look at radiator hose on the drivers side that leads over to water pump on passenger side. The long hose that goes across the engine bay...is it flattened a bit? Is that shape normal or is the long hose from the drivers side of the radiator to the right side to the waterpump plump and round? (all the way from the top of the radiator to the waterpump?) Thanks in advance...Its right out in the open when you open the hood. JB

Is changing this hose a relatively easy proceedure and is it one that needs to be done immediately? or can I drive the car with the flattened hose for a day or so? How long should it take to replace the hose and is there some procedure I should do after replacing the hose to properly bleed system? (sounds stupid but I don't know the answer) What causes this type of hose failure? Old age? or something else? Thanks in advance.. JB

You give very good advice. I took the cap off for a moment this morning and the hose reverted back to shape. I ordered a new cap.. should have it by this afternoon. Would a car with a bad cap but a good hose still cause the hose to collapse? Thanks! JB

Thank you. I put the new cap on the coolant resevoir and on the top of the cap it says 18lb/pressure versus the 15lbs/pressure that came from the factory.... Its from the GM dealership in town...and they knew it was for a 2001 Z06. Does the 3 lb differential matter? Thanks...(It must be my day to ask crazy questions) JB

Both my 04 z and my 96 Lt4 have 15#. If it were me I'd go back & get the 15# I just ordered a pass side seat track for the z & went to get it warr installed & they opened the box & it was driver side. Had the right pass side part number on the box too. You have to double check everything these days.

I had the exact same problem occur on my 01 Z last fall. I could only obtain the 18# cap from a dealer. Installed it and have used the car about 4 weeks before I put the car away for the winter. But the car ran fine last fall. When I questioned the dearler about the change from 15 to 18# caps, the dealer mentioned that the configuration of the cap was changed awhile ago in their system. So, I say give it a try...
