CM Corvette Accessories: A $2 Million Market In March

If online sales of second-hand parts and accessories are any indication, the Corvette market is firing on all eight LS7 cylinders. Last month Corvette enthusiasts spent more than $2 million dollars on parts and accessories for the iconic American chariot.

Between Feb.28-March 29, Vette owners plunked down $2,398,757 on nearly 18,000 parts via online auction according to data from Terapeak, a developer of market-focused research software that monitors online sales and auctions.

Of that $2 million total, wheels, tires, and wheel/tire packages proved the most lucrative category, accounting for $465,000. Exterior parts – moldings and trim, car covers and sunroof, convertible and hardtop components, in order of popularity – followed, comprising $275,905.

Interior parts, led by door panels, console components, and trim pieces, totaled $256,782, while air intake and fuel delivery parts – air intakes, intake manifolds, carbs and throttle bodies – rounded out the top four categories, accounting for $202,170.

The fifth-generation Corvette, also known as the C5, proved the most popular model to accessorize. C5 products totaled a little more than $151,000, followed by the current C6 ($64,000), and the 1984-1996 model year C4 ($40,000).

Terapeak's Motors P&A Research provides sellers with access to in-depth research on the past year of online auction data and allows users to get in-depth research reports on the competition and themselves.

That is very interesting. Wonder if marketing Corvette parts would diminish or enhance the Corvette experience on a personal level?
