CM Weatherstrip question

Okay, just replaced the rear glass piece with an NOS item. Seems like it's shrunk a bit with storage/age. Had to pull like hell to get it to almost hit the corners. That and it's "puffy". Took all I could do to close my hatch. I was slamming it like it stole something.

Any chance a hair dryer or other technique will help? I'd like to get it into the corners so it doesn't end up cut by the glass. And I'd like to avoid a hernia closing the hatch.

Things get pretty toasty in the interior if I leave it in the sun. Will that help?

By the way--3M adhesive is the way to go! An hour after gluing one side, I was tugging on the other and it never gave.

All in all, not a task beyond the average guy, just these little wrinkles.

HI there,
Normally, heat will assist in the forming of weatherstrips to glass.
Now, under other circumstances, make sure the strip is cleaned with window cleaner. Then, add a bit of either GM weatherstrip lubricant or Krytox grease to the contact surface and allow to soak in for 1 hour.
Wipe off the excess.
DO NOT USE SILICONE, as this degrades the vinyl skin of the weather strip and will lead to premature failure.
Allthebest, c4c5

I didn't know that c4c5....the other forums swear by silicon for the weatherstrip! Looks like I'm gonna make a trip to the Chevy dealer!
