CM Dexron 6 Not For Manual Transmissions

HI there,
We have been corrected on the use of Dexron 6 in manual transmissions.
You should NOT use Dexron 6 in any manual transmission.
We have NOT been given any particular reason, however, the correct fluid number now is 88861800.
Any vehicle that previously required DEXRONŽ-III for a manual transmission should now use P/N 88861800. This fluid is labeled Manual Transmission and Transfer Case Fluid.
Allthebest, c4c5

What if you already have Dexron 6 in your mn6? Any issues? If so, what are the issues.
Also, is this P/N 88861800 only available from GM? If availvailble other places, what marketing name would be be looking for?

Thanks

Don

HI there,
No, there will be NO permanent damage, but for some reason, they suggested to us that we revise our recommendation.
Redline D4 ATF is fine also.
We here at Corvettemechanic just want to make sure we have the facts correct.

So that new stuff is not the same as GM's "synchromesh transmission fluid" is it?

D4 in, feels about the same as the Dex 6. The drain out has microscopic particles of coppery/golden sort of color. Settled out (did not float) of the Dex 6 fluid. Is this normal wear of the syncros? The fluid was only in for about 2k miles max. Dex 3 before.

Thanks.

Is the 88861800 a new p/n new fluid or is it the old Dex 3?

:)

Hi there,
88861800 is the manual transmission fluid and is NOT Dex 3.And yes, that is the normal wear in the fluid.

We ran the Redline ATF fluid for a short time in our 99
FRC. When at the drag strip I experienced crunching when shifting. I changed back to GM fluid and the crunching went away. Be careful of the Redline.
