 I've sort of noticed the fuels today are crap... Shell is tier one...but as far as citgo goes... I'll never buy that state run @ssholes gasoline even if it costs less.. The way that lunatic acted here at the united nations I hope he goes to hell... Thanks for the heads up on the gasoline additive.... I thought I was being ridiculous when I noticed a slight improvement in the cars drivability when I used it on occassion... I did find the chevron additive 20 oz or so for half the price of the GM additive though...so I've been using that instead lately. I hope thats ok? |

| I have to agree here: Citgo is State-owned by Venezuela. Hugo Chavez has caused so much grief that 7/11 is dropping the brand. I really think we should all avoid their products. Hate us if you like, but don't expect me to give you my money too. PS My local Autozone ran a $3.99 special recently on the smaller bottle of Techron. I bought a case and figure I can save a buck using 1 3/4 bottles vs. paying $10 for the larger bottle. Seems petty, but I'm done throwing money to the oil companies any more than absolutely necessary, just on principle. |

| DCX has also voiced its concerns on driveability issues with todays fuels. Seems everyone that touches the fuel as it is refined can add 10% alcohol to the fuel and by the time the customer gets the fuel, it has less and less real fuel in it. I have noticed in my new Jeep Compass a very slight run rough in gear at a stop until it warms issue with some fuels. Never a code and never an issue once warm. My wife has also noticed less mileage with some brands she used. DCX is also interested in a GM tool we did that is a fuel quality tester. The tool uses an expensive Seimens sensor that was at one point discontinued but we have talked Seimens into manf them for us again. The bad part is the tool will be even more money than before. GM will ship the rest of its dealer body the fuel tester and DCX wants to take a look at the new version once done with me. The old water and gas test is not 100% accurate. Bottom line is the tool works and DCX likes and needs something since they have nothing. Paul I am sure you know what tool I am taking about. I forget the J number! |

| HI there, Yes, the fuel composition tester is invaluable as far as testing fuels for alcohol. J-44175 is excellent for using to diagnose ONLY alcohol. As for the Citgo thing, I NEVER KNEW it was owned by Venezuela. Thanks for the information. Allthebest, c4c5 |

| The Techron does work for sure! I use it every year in my cars. One more crappy gas story... I had to replace the plugs in my leased PT Cruiser at 15,000 miles once. The engine developed a bad miss at idle but gave no codes. It slowly got worse and using the winter fuel. One weekend I pulled all the plugs and each had a mysterious red tint to them. :confused: I said to myself, that is not right! :eek: Replaced all the plugs and stopped going to the same cheapo gas station. Never had an issue for the last two years with the car too. :D Showed several techs and all were baffeled as to what it was. |

| Fuel purity Of course, I can't speak for every state, but here in Michigan our Department of Agriculture (??) supervises fuel purity and has a label to that effect, including a statement on every pump I've seen that the fuel meets set State standards and gives an 800-number for complaints. It's also required that fuel with Ethanol state such, but generally, it's just Sunoco that sells this 10% mix & who incidently sells 86 octane sub-standard economy fuel that should be avioded anyway. |

| what does anyone think about Hess,Gulf and Waa Waa? I do use Shell in the vette whenever I can but in my Blazer I have been using the above because they have been "a bit" cheaper. Kills me when we forget so quickly and think anything under $2.00 a gallon is good! Oil barrel prices are coming down...why is gas going back up? |

| Techron really does work I have know about Techron for quite a few years. I was told by the Porche service dept to add it every other tank. I must have gone crazy when I traded my 1985 C4 in on a 944 Turbo. That was the worst mistake of my life. The 944 is the only car that sucks and blows at the same time. I now have a 2000 C5 and love it. I put in a bottle of Techron about every 4th tank of gas. There is a big difference in both the long and short term. If a stuffy company like Porche reccomends it, there must be a reason. I also try to use Mobile whenever possible, it seems to run the best in my car. Thanks!!!!!! Mike F |

| Here in California, I've found that mileage on my '99 drops significantly if I buy gas from Sam's Club or Costco, yet improves dramtically with Chevron. Made a mistake once and bought at a Union 76 station... never do that again. Mileage and performance went down the tubes on that tank... badly. I normally run a bottle of techron through the '99 once every 3-4 months and its due again. I haven't tried the Techron in my new '07 yet but probably will just to be safe. |

| HI there, BG44K is a superior decarbonization chemical, but not so much of a fuel injector cleaner, that is why it was not mentioned here. As for the other fuels, they may be good, but once again other than the top tier fuel standards, speculation is rampant on fuels and Im not a chemist so I cannot say what is better than the other. A standard of Top tier has been set and only some put forth the effort to get their fuels to that standards, some do NOT. Allthebest,  |
